Network Marketing on Twitter
Today I want to take a quick look at a how Twitter can contribute to your marketing efforts.
Well, it’s not hard to get started with Twitter and once you have a highly targeted following, you can use that to generate leads, market your products, or just get the word out and create buzz about whatever you want.
From a network marketing standpoint, the beauty of Twitter is that it provides a captive audience for your products and business opportunity.
Check this out. Let’s say you have an e-mail list that you send a quarterly newsletter out to (and you SHOULD have a list…if you don’t, click here to learn how to build one). They are going to like getting that newsletter. If you’re providing quality content on a weekly basis (like I do!), they are going to be happy to get your e-mails. But what if you sent out 10, 20 or even 30 e-mails a day to your list? You just can’t do that. It’s not even remotely smart. Everybody would opt out of your list.
On Twitter, however, the game is a little different. You CAN send 10 or 20 messages out to your list everyday and they won’t string you up by the ankles! You CAN promote your business opportunity and generate leads everyday. It is one of the greatest marketing tools in existence if you know how to tap into it.
The whole trick with Twitter is getting targeted followers. These are people who are interested in what you have to offer (i.e. your business). I don’t need to tell you how important having highly targeted leads is. Twitter allows you to build a huge following, which is basically a targeted list that you can market to every day. Once again, the trick is getting as many targeted followers as possible.
There are different ways to build a targeted following. The best way is to take part in discussions related to your field. Answer questions, post questions, and follow people that you interact with. They will (sometimes) follow you back.
IMPORTANT NOTE: DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT have all your tweets be a pitchfest. I promise you it’ll do more harm than good. Don’t be afraid to tweet about regular stuff. I talk about a wide range of stuff on Twitter. I tell people about some of my day to day activities. I crack jokes with my friends. I share information that has nothing to do with my network marketing business. Why, you ask? Because it’s important for my audience to see that I’m a real person. I have followers who have zero interest in network marketing. But because they know, like and respect me, sometimes they’ll pass my information on to others who may be interested.
You’ll see stuff out there that says it will automate the process of getting you tons of followers. Personally, I think they’re a bunch of crap. I gave one a test run and while it did build my number of followers, the followers were not targeted, it moved too fast and almost got me flagged as a spammer and it forced me to follow a bunch of people (most of which I had no interest in following). I appreciate and embrace automation in business. But this is a process better left manually done.
As you build your followers, be helpful to them. Answer questions, give links to useful sites, even if they are not yours. Give your followers high quality information, targeted to what you know they are interested in, and you will begin to build a good relationship with your Twitter followers.
Network marketing is a relationship business. Lead with value and then when it’s time to pitch your opportunity, you’re more likely to have a higher success rate.
Twitter is a very powerful tool. If you don’t have a Twitter account yet, go get one. You may be surprised at how quickly you can generate a lot of leads.
To Your Massive Success,
Eric Williams
